Breck Epic Organizers Launch MTB Event in Eagle, CO

(Eagle, Colo.) - April 5, 2013 - The Greenspeed Project, Inc., organizers of the popular Breck Epic MTB Stage Race, are pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Eagle Outside Festival. Scheduled for May 11-12, 2013 in Eagle, CO, the event serves as a showcase for the community's extensive trail network and as a centerpiece for the town's destination tourism marketing effort.

"We've made a commitment to increase the quality and quantity of our already substantial trail network," states Mayor Yuri Kostick, "We believe that Eagle offers some of the best riding in the Rockies, all within an easy drive of the front range. The Eagle Outside Festival shines a spotlight on what we consider to be a perfect early season riding option for the Colorado mountain biking community."

Accurately described as a 're-envisioning' of Eagle's former Get Out Expo, the new event incorporates many new elements for riders, runners and outdoor enthusiasts alike. First among them is the inaugural Firebird MTB Race and its counterpart, the women's only Firebird la Femme. Non-USAC sanctioned, the mountain bike events take place on Saturday and Sunday respectively and collectively boast a $10,000 cash purse with equal payouts for men's and women's fields.

The festival also features the 1st annual Rocky Mountain Bike and Outdoor Expo, a consumer facing demo boasting some of the bike industry's leading brands. Santa Cruz, Pivot, Ibis, Felt, Niner, Specialized, Yeti, Ellsworth, Twenty Two Cycles, Orbea, Wilier, Ridley, BMC and many, many more will all be on hand with their latest models. The free demo invites consumers to test ride their dream rigs all day long on Eagle's signature climbs and descents.

"With three great coffee shops, a VERY good brewery, some killer Mex, dining options galore and a full grip of trails leading riders from town into the back of beyond, Eagle is sort of an undiscovered secret," says event producer Mike McCormack, "The racing part is obvious, and we're thrilled to have the town's support in offering a sizable purse. The current dynamic as dictated by USA Cycling is universally unpopular - hopefully another great race without their sanction will prompt them to invest additional thought into their recent decision. Then again, maybe it won't."

"The demo is a direct extension of the success we've seen at events like Sea Otter, Interbike and Outerbike," continued McCormack, "People LOVE to try the bikes they've only seen reviewed online or in a magazine. Events like these are packed with smiling people. With the industry placing more and more resources into dealer relationship and support demo-type programs, we think we've come pretty close to the mark in terms of offering a great venue along with tremendous energy and critical mass, all during the important early season purchasing period. And besides - what better way to introduce riders to Eagle?"

The event will also offer a no-cost set of Strava Challenges. Riders can test themselves on some of Eagle's signature climbs and descents, trying to best the local hammers and rippers for digital bragging rights.

There's more than just biking though. New for this year is the Mother of a Half-Marathon, a downhill road marathon that sees competitors finish in the heart of Eagle Ranch. In addition, there will be a 10K longboard push race, a "Chro-Moly Chef" competition, and a wide variety of Mother's Day activities including yoga, spa treatments, flower delivery, special meal offers from local dining spots and much, much more.

For more information on the Eagle Outside Festival, the Rocky Mountain Bike and Outdoor Expo or any of the events held throughout the weekend, please visit the Eagle Outside Festival site or contact Mike McCormack.
About The Greenspeed Project
The Greenspeed Project was founded in 2008 to utilize cycling events as a mechanism to underwrite trail improvements and enhance MTB access in the Central Rockies. The team has effectively harnessed the power of the collective cycling consciousness in service of demanding accountability and ethical discourse from those that would see mountain bike access greatly marginalized. Greenspeed has also been instrumental in validating the term 'companion designation', bringing it into the land protection dialogue along with the concept of the Wilderness B (Wilderness with Bikes), of which Greenspeed is the founder.Through these initiatives, the organization has played a modest role in the crafting of stronger, more meaningful land protections for all. While the group can be found most recently jousting at windmills in the Colorado Springs area, The Breck Epic, Greenspeed's signature 6-day MTB stage race event, is sold out for 2013.

Troy Lee Designs Introduces the New A1 All Mountain Helmet

30 years of riding. 3 years of design. 1 helmet of choice.

Troy Lee Designs is proud to officially introduce the newest addition to our growing line of bicycle specific helmets, the A1.

With the freeride, downhill and BMX helmet market cornered, Troy Lee Designs decided it was time to venture into new territory. Three years of research and design later, the team has developed a top of the line helmet for the XC/Enduro, Trail, and All Mountain rider.

Like all other TLD helmets, the A1 has undergone rigorous safety tests to ensure that it provides superior protection, exceeding CPSC standards and CE EN certifications, while still weighing an average of 320 grams and allowing for maximum ventilation.

Other features of the A1 helmet include an easily adjustable visor, strap dividers and adjusters, a unique adjustable TLD retention system, and anodized aluminum hardware.

Built with moto inspired components and world famous graphics, the A1 upholds the Troy Lee Designs iconic vision that has been a prevalent staple of the bicycle industry for years.

A limited first-run quantity of the helmet in Limited Edition Gold Metal Flake Cyclops ($185 MSRP) and Black Cyclops ($165 MSRP) Colorways will be available for purchase at www.troyleedesigns.com and at finer dealers worldwide beginning on February 4, 2013. The helmet will be available in XS-2XL.

A select group of media and Troy Lee Designs global distributors were recently given the opportunity to test the helmet on downhill and cross country rides with TLD athletes Cam Zink, Brandon Semenuk, Logan Peat, Aaron Gwin, Eliot Jackson, and Leigh Donovan. The outpour of praise about the new helmet could not have been better.

“I have more mountain bike trail riding in my roots than I do freeriding, so I have been wanting a TLD trail helmet forever! Really happy with how this A1 turned out, will be putting a lot of miles in with it.”
Cam Zink FMB Tour Hero

"Coming from an XC background I understand the importance of a vented helmet and since I've moved into Freeride, I only trust a helmet with lots of coverage. The A1 gives me that light, breathable design without being concerned about safety."
Brandon Semenuk 2X FMB World Champion

"I first heard about the A1 project a year ago and have been eagerly awaiting it since. And the team at TLD did not disappoint. It fits like a glove, protects my dome better than any other trail lid, and looks as good as the rest of the Troy Lee helmet line. If I had to sum it up in one word? Dialed."
Lars Sternberg, Transition Bikes/Enduro Racer

“I have come full circle with Troy Lee Designs, I had one of those sweet Edge helmets in the early 90’s, with a TLD sticker kit! I have been wanting a helmet to ride in that was more protective than all the other helmets on the market, which are just glorified road helmets with a visor. I think we nailed it with the A1. We catered to the heart of the market, which is that mid to big travel trail rider, enduro rider, or even cross country rider, with a helmet that is extremely safe, elegant, stylish, light and built to last.”

2013 GoJamMedia Introduction

Go JaM On it!

2012 was a big year! It seems personal interests grew beyond expectations and resulted in lots of new friends, lots of great relationships, and one new venture. What venture you might ask? Well, one of those newly formed friendships lead to two guys each with similar skills and interests to the formation of GoJaMMedia.

Now, who or what is GoJaMMedia? That’s simple, just a mix of some words and letters. Ok, so you take the word “Go”, the letter J from “Jay Schultz”, the letter A from “And”, the letter M from “Matt DeLorme”, Media…. Slap them all together and Wala! = GoJaMMedia!

Matt DeLorme, of Frederick, Maryland comes to GoJaMMedia with five years shooting the MTB racing scene for the best Gravity rag in the world, Decline Magazine (www.declinemagazine.com) and two years shooting for one of the best online MTB news sites on the web, VitalMTB (www.vitalmtbcom).

Asked about the new venture, Matt stated, “2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for my career as a professional photographer. The formation of GoJAMMedia is an exciting new venture for me. I am thrilled to be working with a good friend, and talented photographer to provide a better photographic media product. The ability to bounce creative ideas of each other is in my mind what will be a huge part of this ventures success. I'm looking forward to providing the best possible coverage of east coast action sports!”

The other half of GoJaMMedia, Jay Schultz of Mauldin, South Carolina, has been handling all things Press and
Media related for Team BGB-Mountain Khakis in 2011 and 2012. His long passion for photography stems from a past life spent on the motorsports circuit as photographer from 1997 to 2007. After a few of life changes and moves up and down the east coast, going fast on two wheels has become focus of his time and energy.

Jay Schultz on GoJaMMedia, “There were definitely some bumps in the road in 2012, but that’s a part of personal growth. If you aren’t learning something about yourself, others, and what you love to do, they there’s something systemically wrong. With two guys with almost exactly the same M.O. (Modus Operandi) in terms interest, one placed in the SE and one placed in the NE, we’ve got an equation that works great for the both of us. I am SO stoked!”

Although out of context (or not on the MTB scene), GoJaMMedia was formed while the fastest sportscars in the world where pounding the pavement at Road Atlanta. Neither of the crew is leaving their roots, whether MTB racing for Matt or a return those via Motorsports for Jay….. that’s the beauty of where this pair is going, a combination of the two. From covering every UCI WC round to the American LeMans Series keep an eye out for Matt or Jay. As always, don’t be shy, stop by and say Hi! See you out there!

X-Fusion Title Sponsor of Ashland Mountain Challenge

X-Fusion proudly announces today its title sponsorship of the Ashland Mountain Challenge Mountain Bike Enduro for 2013. The Ashland Mountain Challenge (AMC) is in its 4th year, with prior history as the 12 Mile Super D. This year, the AMC will be organized as a true Enduro style event, and racers will be competing in more stages and riding more trails than previous years.

“Our goal is to grow with the current explosion of Enduro racing, as well as provide racers with more time on their bike and a better overall experience”, says Bill Roussel , AMC Race Director. Bill also added, “Having X-Fusion as our title sponsor this year is very special to me. This is a suspension company that I have been testing with for the last 3 years and I continue to be blown away by their commitment to performance, quality and reliability.”

The 2013 event will encompass both the Eastern and Western ridges of Mt. Ashland. Racers from the Pro and Cat 1 categories will race on one ridge, while the Cat 2 riders start their race simultaneously on the other ridge. Once finished, racers will then be shuttled to the next leg/ridge. There will be climbs involved to get to each stage, but not timed. Only the descents will be timed, which will have small burst type climbs and other physical challenges. This format promises to reward racers that are skilled, fit and on bikes that can handle technical terrain while being efficient around the mountain.

Adds X-Fusion Marketing Manger John Hauer: “X-Fusion has spent a ton of saddle time ripping down the Ashland trails and has held a close relationship with Bill Roussel of Ashland Mountain Adventures. When the opportunity to support such a unique event at what we feel is one of the most ideal venues in North America for Enduro racing, we had to jump on it.”

Event Date: Saturday June 22nd, 2013
