Commencal Supreme DH 29 Announced
Since the beginning, through its network of riders, COMMENCAL has very much been involved in competition.
Using cutting-edge technologies for performance is a kid's dream!
Whatever the race, time is normally the main issue and for this, nothing must be left to chance.
Recently, wheel size has become an additional parameter to consider when adapting a bike to the rider. 27.5'' or 29'', it's up to you. We offer the SUPREME DH in both wheel sizes as we believe this choice is influenced by the rider's size, riding style and preferences. In fact the 2017 World Cup season demonstrated exactly that.
Our 29er frame has been specifically designed for 29'' wheels and has been tested throughout the season by our World Cup riders. Amaury Pierron's run at Val Di Sole showed us that we were on the right track and the frame is now ready to be marketed.
Work has been done so that the chassis provides even more grip and rolls over anything in its path without losing speed, obviously thanks to the large wheels but also to our HPP system and the related geometry.
It's a bike that finds it easy to make up speed in rough areas all with unparalleled stability. It’s trademark: speed.
The frame is offered as our Race Kit option (frame + shock + fork + wheels + chain guide) or as a complete bike, all now available for pre-order on all of our sites! Delivery is scheduled for February 2018,
ideal timing for all racers still looking for their 2018 weapon!

Kyle Strait Joins Commencal USA
Who better to represent COMMENCAL USA than an American born and bred, proud of his roots, holding high the values of his country and not forgetting, an excellent rider?
That’s correct! Kyle Strait has joined us for the next two years and will ride our bikes besides being involved in promoting online sales via www.commencalusa.com.
His two victories at the Red Bull Rampage, his natural ‘freeride’ spirit and overall involvement in our sport seduced us. We are very proud to have him with us and we look forward to him lining up with our bikes at forthcoming events.
Kyle Strait, welcome!
Interview with KYLE STRAIT:
- Kyle Strait, more than just a two-times Red Bull Rampage winner in 2004 and 2013. An icon of a generation, particularly in the United States. So why have you made the decision to join COMMENCAL, an Andorran company located between France and Spain?
“As a youngster, I traveled a lot to different World Cups and events around the world. One place that I really enjoyed was Andorra. I always had fun racing there and really enjoyed the principality that is Andorra. With one of my childhood heroes being on Commencal at the time, the brand has always been in my mind as a passionate, driven, bitchin’ brand! I always thought Commencal would be a cool brand to work with. From their innovative bike designs, to their passionate love for competitions and overall prominent brand image, I am pleased to be joining the Commencal family.”
- In addition to having your name associated to our Andorran company, you become our ambassador for COMMENCAL USA (www.commencalusa.com), a company created last September in California, in order to provide a direct sales service in the US. You'll be asked to contribute to the development and reliability of our bikes. Is this a role that you’ve always thought you might want to take on one day?
“I’ve always wanted to be a major ambassador for a brand and I feel that partnering with Commencal is a perfect fit for both of us. Since being in the industry for so long, I have been educated on what makes a bike ride well and work great. I am really excited to be able to work closely with Commencal in bike development and design. With Commencal’s move to the US it has opened up this awesome opportunity for us to work together and I couldn’t be more stoked”.
- People know you well but tell us; what’s a typical day in the life of Kyle Strait (at work and play)?
“It all really depends on the day, most days would start off with feeding my dog, Frank. Then onto myself, making a smoothie, then onto catching up with emails and checking the weather for the next time it will rain. It doesn’t rain a lot where I live so I always want to be ready for when it comes to go dig some jumps. If it has been raining I like to go out and dig. Either in my yard or in the town I live in, always building trails, mega jumps and even trail maintenance. Wintertime is a great time for me. I am home a lot so I get to spend time with my old lady, ride with friends, build jumps and if there is enough time in the day I love to fish and work on my classics. I have two classic vehicles that I love to drive and work on; one being a 1969 Lincoln Continental and the other being a 1961 Chevy Apache. But once summer hits, I am traveling most of the time, which ends up working out great since it is so hot at home during the summer”.
- In training, what do you like working on the most? Tricks/Style/Air?
“It always depends on what events are coming up next on the schedule. So, say at this time in the winter I ride a lot of trails on the trail bike to get a decent base fitness. I also try and hit as many jump spots to keep my muscle memory on point. If a slalom or DH event is coming up, I try and ramp up my intensity training and do more sprints. I like to say style is not something you work on; it’s more of just how comfortable you feel on the bike and it translates to your riding. Feeling smooth on the bike is one of the greatest feelings ever. It’s addictive”.
- You have a pretty full video schedule. What projects are you working on?
“Filming is and always has been a non-stop thing for me and I love working on film projects and riding in them. It’s a great feeling to see what you can do on your bike and to see how stoked people get watching you ride your bike. As of right of now I am in the middle of some awesome top secrets projects that will be coming out soon!”
- A question from all those young Red Bull Rampage fans. How does one win twice with nearly 10 years between each victory?
“I think it has to come down to being healthy for the event. With Rampage starting in 2001 the event has change tons over the years and it is very hard to stay ahead of the progressive curve. With myself being the only athlete to compete in every single Rampage in history I have found myself so close to winning the event many other times (besides 2004 and 2013) just to fall short because of a crash. It part of the game and I am still very happy to be the only rider to win the event twice. It goes to show that it is a very hard event to win more than once”.
- Intimate question: Do you dress up in fancy dress often?
“Hahaha! I’ve found that when there’s the occasion to dress up “fancy” I do enjoy dressing like a cowboy. Full on boots, Wranglers, and cowboy hat”.
- Which American custom/tradition will you never be able to live without?
“I would say that is a pretty hard question being that there are so many I love. Although some of them may not be traditional, there is fishing, Monster Trucks, watching the Super Bowl (even though I don’t really care about football), NASCAR, Supercross, The 4th of July, pouring hot sauce on everything and being able to get and eat ice anywhere I want!”
- Which European/French tradition do you like the most?
“Although I haven’t had a chance to be part of many European traditions and enjoy them, I’ve had a chance to be part of the 1st of May in Spain and have also been to Oktoberfest in Germany. Which were both a great times. I can’t wait to experience more European traditions.“

New Team COMMENCAL VALLNORD Enduro
Following our COMMENCAL DH team (Riding Addiction), COMMENCAL officially goes into Enduro!
The COMMENCAL Enduro team comes to life, with the couple Cécile and Cédric RAVANEL in charge of it!
Max COMMENCAL :
« We’ve been loving enduro for more than 20 years! It started with the first MEGAVALANCHE in the 90’s, we were partners with Georges EDWARDS, the famous organizer. It is a real story of passion that binds us with this sport.
With the Enduro World Series, this sport definitely got more professional, so it was important to us to be present through a perfectly organized structure.
We were naturally attracted to Cécile and Cédric team, because they are looking for a long-term partnership, and so do we.
I also really appreciated Cécile’s victory at the Whistler Enduro World Series. It is a place I love, and winning there is a sign of true talent!
There is also the fact that Cécile and Cédric are really close to Nico QUERE (They coach him). Together, they will form a great team.
I am really happy about this new partnership, which is already planned for 3 years. »
Cécile et Cédric RAVANEL :
«We’ve liked COMMENCAL’s brand for years, and Max’s project is very interesting. What they did with the DH Team Riding Addiction is an example to follow, and trying to do the same thing in enduro is definitely tempting. It is a very exciting project!
We also gave a try to the META AM V4 after seeing Nico QUERE riding it at the end of the season. Nico is impressive! After the first wheel turns, you feel really confident. It is a comfy bike, you feel like playing with it, not touching the brakes. It is playful, you feel good on it, a perfect weapon for our sport! »
The structure will consist of:
- Cécile RAVANEL, winner in Whistler and 3rd at the EWS 2014 general ranking (Elites Women)
- Cédric RAVANEL, Team manager 35th at EWS 2014 general ranking
- Nico QUERE, 4th at MEGAVALANCHE de l’Alpe d’Huez and 2nd of the mega in l’Ile de la Réunion, Vallnord Enduro Winner
- Gatien PERNET, 3rd at Whistler EWS (Juniors)
- Mathieu RUFFRAY, Enduro Roc Enduro winner (Juniors)
Other partners: American Classic, Marzocchi, Hutchinson, KS, Kenny, Urge, Northwave, Tioga, E13, T9 Boeshield
Technical partners: Effetto Mariposa, Formula, Pulse Session, Clif Bar, HT, G-Form, A2Z, Aerozine, SB3, Progrip
Faustin FIGARET Joins COMMENCAL
Young, talented and dedicated to his sport, at only 20 years old, Faustin FIGARET displays a quite impressive level of professionalism. His 2013 international results (14th in Vallnord and 26th in the World Cup overall ranking) are the proof he still has a big progression margin.
For these reasons, COMMENCAL decided to support him for the next two seasons and believes in him more than ever.
Welcome to COMMENCAL Faustin FIGARET!
Here are a few words from those concerned:
- So Faustin, are you stoked on that?
“Yes, I’m very happy to have signed with COMMENCAL. I have received a warm welcome, I’m feeling good in this family atmosphere and I’m stoked on what the staff is providing!”
- After some riding with your new rig, how are you feeling?
“I’m feeling very comfortable on it, the bike is very good at everything and performs great! I still need to work on a couple of settings to start off the season with a WARRIOR MACHINE!”
- How is your 2014 preparation going on?
“I’m working really hard with 2F Sports and I’m already feeling the difference. Everything is planned so that the upcoming season goes well. I’m feeling confident and can’t wait for the first races to start!”
A few words from the Boss:
- Max COMMENCAL, why choosing Faustin FIGARET?
“I was always willing to win races, everyone knows that, while finding out and helping new talents. Faustin is still very young and finishing in 14th in Vallnord last summer foreshadows a bright future. In addition to that, Faustin is a very conscientious, hard-working boy, which makes us believe he can fulfill his dreams and ours.”
- Last year, Remi THIRION won his first World Cup in Vallnord on a COMMENCAL bike. We can only wish him the same future, can’t we?
“No doubt that with the Riding Addictions and especially Remi THIRION, they will know how to motivate themselves altogether to face the big teams in the competitions where the level keeps increasing gradually.”
- Will COMMENCAL be stronger than ever for 2014?
“All our riders can count on us to get things done and provide the gear they need to perform. Our partnership with BOS is getting bigger and bigger. We are about to live an incredible adventure!”
Remi THIRION also comments Faustin’s arrival:
“Faustin is a young rider who wasn’t necessarily on the first spots when he started racing downhill, but he persisted and found what was missing him over the season. He worked hard to improve his fitness. Regarding of that, there’s no secret; I went over that too. He has good riding skills so I think he can do very well.”
